    Strip of wallpaper with floral and bird motifs printed on boards, 19th century.

    This strip, in the horizontal direction, is organized into three large patterns; a central bouquet composed of roses (one in bloom and others in bud), blue flowers and two cartouches on either side including in their center a multicolored bird surrounded by plants. These three motifs are surrounded by golden ornaments (irons and acanthus scrolls). To entertain the eye, a multitude of plants and flowers revolve around the large patterns serving as a link to the entire decorative program. They even go out of frame in places; nature invites itself.
     

    With a beautiful decorative effect, the drawing is precise and of quality, the plant motifs are painted naturally. The colored contrasts also contribute to the cheerfulness of this composition without forgetting the play of shadows and lights bringing realism to the representation of the elements.

     

    Good state of conservation, folds and a small tear should be noted (see photos)
