Small Funeral Mask - Chimu-lambayeque, Peru

Mask hammered from a thin sheet of copper-plated metal with a deep green patina. Chimu funerary masks come in a wide range of sizes and refinements, giving each piece its own unique character.
On the other hand, the masks produced by this culture are very uniform, respecting artistic canons and aesthetics that are very particular to them. The shape of this mask's face is characterized by drop-shaped eyes, a mouth inscribed with two parallel lines and a protruding nose made from a piece of metal.
This type of mask covered the faces of the deceased from the Lambayeque valley. They could wear several of these funerary masks, which were attached one on top of the other, covering the head of the deceased.
