    SHAMAN BENCH
    Juruna Indians, Mato Grosso State, Central Brazil

    Made of monoxyl wood, this stool is shaped like a jaguar: one of the auxiliary spirits. It is entirely covered in black pigments, organized into patterns and symbols specific to the feline.

    It was exhibited on the occasion of the exhibition SHAMANES – DIALOGUES AVEC L’INVISIBLE at the Musée des Explorations du monde, in Cannes from July 1 to November 10, 2023.
    A detail is reproduced on the back cover of the catalog of said exhibition.
