    Huastec culture / 800 - 1500 AD

°°° Price can be reasonably negotiated °°°

Small anthropomorphic vase used by shamans for the preparation of potions. It represents a seated figure with a globular body, small chest, atrophied limbs and a face with coffee bean eyes and pierced ears.
Body paintings formed by broken lines and rhombuses decorate almost the entire piece.

It is traditionally accepted that the Huastec culture developed in the states of Hidalgo, San Luis Potosi, Veracruz and Tamaulipas, and more particularly concentrated along the Panuco River and the Gulf Coast.
The Huastecs are descendants of some Mayan groups from southern Mexico, their cultural peak being before the Aztecs established their empire in Mesoamerica.
