Mother-of-pearl size: 20 cm X 17 cm
Antique Kina coin necklace from the Highlands region of New Guinea. Large mother-of-pearl half-moon covered with pigment and adorned with triangles formed by small dots engraved in the mother-of-pearl. Red-dyed fiber cord with a small cowrie shell. The fineness of the weave and the wear of the cord suggest that it is quite old.
