"Pipe Tomahawk or Tomahawk Calumet - Plains Indian / North America

Beautiful tomahawk calumet ("pipe tomahawk") with a pierced handle holding a sewn leather pendant decorated with beads (later).
The wooden handle is hollow and forms the stem of this ceremonial pipe. The wood is worked using the "burned wood" technique, which produces patterns.
The blade is in wrought iron. The wood has a beautiful patina and the iron is oxidized, giving the object an attractive appearance.
