DISC Huan carved from the DRAGON
    Presumably Hongshan culture, China
    Neolithic era
    Nephrite Jade
    Diam. : 20; Thickness: 3 cm

Nephrite jade disc sculpted in bas-relief of a zoomorphic figure with a serpentine body, following the circular shape of the object. It refers to the primitive form of the mythical animal of the dragon – a figure that will be associated with the emperor of ancient China, then later with the people.
The protruding edges are punctuated by three ridges similar to dorsal fins.
Brown veins are visible on the back of the disc, the center of which is marked with a slight protrusion.
