This proud Baule figure is standing with bent legs, holding the tools commonly used in Côte d'Ivoire for woodworking: axe and barker. The sculpture is large and of good quality, in good condition, and the figure is very expressive with a traditional hairstyle. He is nude, with his navel protruding and scarified like a star. An attractive antique piece
comes from the collection of a Swiss ethnologist and explorer who brought back this 19th century piece on one of his trips to Africa in the early 20th century. Good condition for an amateur cabinet.
