Female KARABORO statue from Burkina Faso.
The Karaboro are a small ethnic group that anthopologists assimilate to the Sénoufo group. They are found along the border between northern Côte d'Ivoire and southern Burkina Faso, mainly where the Comoé River crosses the border. The figure stands with shoulders slightly arched forward, the face ending in a triangle at the chin. Broken and missing parts (arms, legs), traces of ancient woodborers.
Nice dry, crusty patina. Sold soclée.
