Worked Oak Panel forming a large Wall Pipe Rack.
Its edges are sculpted with acanthus leaves and scrolls, decorations all the more important at the top and on the base of this display.
In the center, the letters 'E.P' are marked in the wood and surrounded by a frieze. Probably a century ago, the first owner of this property wanted to see his initials engraved on it.
It is under this stamp that we chose to position a row with six notches allowing as many Pipes to be suspended.
Three pairs of relief motifs, arranged symmetrically, also adorn this curious object. One of them certainly represents nuts, which turn out to be hollow.
This generously animated and richly sculpted Pipe Holder constitutes an astonishing decorative element. We might even be able to find a new role for him, such as that of Dart Holder next to a target for example. Unless a Smoker or a collector restores it to its original function... who knows!
