    Large globe in papier-mache and plaster, set in its wooden basket: the spindles are strips of paper painted with animals and symbols of the zodiac to represent the celestial vault and its constellations (decoratively), the complete meridian is in brass.

    As early as the Renaissance, libraries and other rooms dedicated to culture featured large globes depicting the Earth as it was known at the time, as well as its counterpart, a terrestrial globe.
    Some globes of this size may have been transformed into bars.
