The present edition, designed by Georges GUILLOT and produced with André KOCH, was printed by FEQUET and BAUDIER, typographers. The illustrations were printed by Louis DUVAL and hand-colored by Jean and Paulette MONNIER. It was completed in Paris on January 2, 1957. Copy N° 475, printed on vellum à la forme, of 1000 copies printed.
Unpublished preface by Jean COCTEAU of the Académie Française.
"Raymond Radiguet, a monster of genius, certainly had, like Rimbaud, the devil in his body, but this devil seems highly suspect.
More than a hellish zone, he belongs to the "Green paradise of childish loves" and to that "part of God" that Gide grants us.
This "part of God" was his own, and whereas in others it was an extra, in his case it was the base, the pedestal, the sap of the tree, the core of the fruit.
With 'Le Diable au Corps', a plant tells its story in our language, and every line in his book will always retain the peach fuzz of a cheek on fire." Jean COCTEAU
