Small book-shaped walnut box with olive wood and stained natural wood marquetry, finely enhanced with Indian ink. The lid depicts a peasant scene with three figures on blackened wood. On the side, a tab reveals a slot. On the front, the keyhole is concealed by a sliding valance. Made in Sorrento (or Nice?). 19th century, circa 1870.
