Large Irian Jaya shield in natural wood, with a stylized geometric design probably depicting bats in hexagonal frames. This very geometric model in warm brown hardwood is very rare; I have never seen any others or found others on the internet.
It comes from the collection of Nina and Gilbert Wolmark, who was a cartoon producer and artist in the 1970s (Asterix, Ulysses 31, etc.) and a major collector of Oceanic art.
