Above the three figures, Liberty in bust wearing the Phrygian cap adorned with the cockade, the tricolor scarf on the right shoulder. Inscription "LA LIBERTÉ" on the base.
At the top of the engraving the square and the plumb line radiating, on the right of the composition the tower of the Bastille from which emerges a tricolor banner inscribed with the motto "Live Free or Die" and surmounted by a Phrygian cap. To the right of the engraving the tympanum and the columns of the Pantheon.
At the bottom of the engraving, the inscription "MARTIRS DE LA LIBERTÉ" (sic)
