Arte Povera (poor art in Italian) is a technique that appeared in the middle of the 18th century in Italy which consists in cutting out existing decorations (engravings) and sticking them on the surface to be decorated. The objective was to imitate the lacquer in a cheap way. One finds the arte povera on various supports such as vases out of glass, boxes or pieces of furniture, chests of drawers.
