Beautiful frame in gilded wood with gold leaf from the Empire period, rectangular in shape with palmettes in the corners and oval view presenting a collection of cameo casts in reconstituted stone representing busts of ancient authors, standing out against a simulating background red porphyry marble. Early 19th century. On the back an old paper (?).
A beautiful, refined object, it is typical of souvenirs from the Grand Tour, a journey of aristocratic education across Europe undertaken by young men from the highest classes of European society from the 17th to the 19th centuries. Ideal to complete a 19th century neoclassical decoration with one of those small details that create an authentic atmosphere.
In very good condition, composed of old elements from the early 19th century. The whole thing works very well and naturally.
