English Engraving - XVIII Century - Allegory on Freemasonry - circa 1770-1790

Allegorical design with Freemasonry, a crowned woman holding a harp and crown, standing next to Justice; in the foreground and obscuring the female figures, two cherubs on a parapet, one holding a flaming torch and pointing to a large book decorated with Masonic symbols bearing the words "Physical / Philosophical / Moral", behind which is another small boy wearing a laurel wreath; pillars in the background, lettered at the top "alpha omega"; oval frame.

Inscription content: Lettered with title followed by 'Dedicated to the learned brothers', publication line partially erased and amended: 'London [erased: 'Pub ... 83 St Martins Lane...'] accordg to act of parliament.', around bottom of oval with artist's line: 'P Lambert RA Roun [Rouen] sculpt / p. Sublime invt', at top of oval 'Old and new Ierusalem building.'
